GENERAL ANESTHESIA

& DEEP SEDATION

Dream Anesthesia

Pediatric Dental Anesthesia Association (PDAA)

We recognize that there are pediatric dental patients for whom routine dental care using nonpharmacological behavior management is not a viable option.  When necessary dental treatment cannot be provided for your child, due to factors such as situational anxiety, young age, extensive treatment plans, and various medical conditions, we rely on advanced modalities, such as Deep Sedation and General Anesthesia.  At Tooth & Co Pediatric Dentistry we partner with Licensed Anesthesia Providers who come to our office several times per month to help provide optimal, responsible, and safe patient care.  We work only with board-certified MD anesthesiologists with advanced pediatric training — the same level of expertise you’d find at a children’s hospital. Once it is determined that your child needs to be unconscious for the necessary dental work, you are connected with one of our anesthesia teams who will further determine, through a thorough consultation, the appropriate level of sedation needed to have their dental procedure completed.  It is our specialty to offer you and your child the safest, most appropriate level of sedation, matched to their specific developmental and physiological needs, to ensure the most a-traumatic experience possible.

Unconscious sedation ranges from “Mask Down”, where patient inhales sedation medications via a mask allowing for short dental procedures, General Anesthesia where the patient is deeply sedated and unconscious but not intubated (breathing naturally on their own), to full General Anesthesia where the patient has a breathing tube in place (most times still breathing on their own but supplemented as needed).

If you are referred to us by your family or pediatric dentist, or other health providers such as your medical doctor, you will be scheduled for a consultation visit, at which time Dr. Ellie Sakhi will make a clinical and radiographic evaluation and discuss your child’s treatment needs and treatment options.
